Enter the the Surface Book 2: A laptop that transforms into a tablet at the touch of a button, and has the added bonus of not breaking all the time. I lay aside 10 years carefully cultivated Mac loyalty to go full-time with the Surface Book for seven days to find out more — and it reminded me that tech can be fun.

Last but not least the Atom includes a ‘Toolbox’ that contains various useful DIY and measurement apps. Of course, a flashlight, compass, alarm, and camera-based magnifier are part of that package. But there’s also a sound measurement app to gauge the level of noise in a given environment, a bubble level, a height measurement tool, a picture hanging level, a digital plumb bob, and a protractor. Finally, the camera can be used as a heart monitor in a pinch and the app for that is included in the Toolbox.

”Businesses need to stop complaining about security and start doing something about it. The technology is there, they just need to start adopting it,” he said. “Multi-factor biometric authentication is readily available and tested, so I think the time is now to implement it not just for device access, but for apps as well.”

The HP Sprocket Photo Printer is a small, hand-sized, photo printer which isn’t for printing out professional-quality photos, but is a quick, easy and fun way to instantly print out your digital snaps – essentially turning any digital camera into a Polaroid-esque instant printer. It doesn’t use ink, so you don’t have to worry about buying replacement cartridges – instead it uses heat to transform a pre-dyed sheet of paper into your photos. It runs on batteries and has a stylish design as well.

For the time being, you can still pre-order one from Indiegogo for $399. Planet Computer plans to begin shipping devices to backers of the Indiegogo campaign this month, with retail availability to follow.

This year Microsoft took another major step, launching Windows 10 on ARM. PC makers are now able to ship notebooks and tablets with the same chips that help give smartphones long battery life, even longer standby time, and an the ability to stay connected to the internet via WiFi or LTE at all times.

Another thing to keep in mind is that even if you switch to Windows 10 Pro, there are some applications and features that will never work on a Windows PC with an ARM processor. That includes drivers for some older hardware. So if you have an ancient printer or scanner, for example, it may not work with the Asus NovaGo. Newer devices that use modern drivers should be supported.

Based on modality, three types of devices are present – handheld, portable and fixed. Owing to the popularity of fixed devices, Fact.MR estimates that these devices will continue to account for a higher market share. On the other hand, handheld devices are estimated to account for the second largest revenue in the ENT surgical devices market and will register faster expansion in the coming years.
