A report from the International Data Corporation (IDC) predicts that the amount of money spent on augmented and virtual reality will double every year until it totals almost $215 billion globally in 2021. Based on the value AR brings to the supply chain, this number is not hard to imagine. As the technology evolves and becomes more widely adopted, there will also most likely be new applications for the technology that increase supply chain efficiency to an even greater degree.
Currently, the iQ is selling only in the U.S. But Butterfly Network is in talks with nonprofits, such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to bring it to the developing world. In many remote areas, clinicians don’t have access to ultrasound technologies that can be used to, say, detect fetal health issues that cause women to die in childbirth.
We wish the bezels were thinner (or the screen bigger), as the screen-to-body ratio is abysmal, but a smaller profile is something we really shouldn’t be complaining about. For what it’s worth, the Unihertz Atom seems to have it all, which surprised me and every other person I have shown it to.
The results we saw with this camera were mixed, with images at times hitting the spot with good contrast, but other pics suffered from exposures that reduced fine details.
My regular computer is a mid 2014 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, with a 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of solid state storage and an Intel Iris integrated graphics system. I bought it brand new soon after its launch, it’s served me well and I have no current plans to upgrade. For the purposes of this story, Microsoft supplied me with a 2017 Surface Book 2 with 15-inch screen, quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, 512GB of solid state storage and an Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics processor. It’s safe to say the Surface Book blows my old machine out of the water on specs, but so would a new MacBook Pro, so for this article I’m going to focus on the other aspects.
Moving on to the insides of the Ulefone Armor 6. The smartphone is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P60 SoC, a eight-core design with quad A73 and quad A53 Arm cores as well as Aem’s Mali-G72MP3 GPU. The SoC is paired with 6 GB of DRAM and 128 GB of NAND flash storage. Many recent ruggedized smartphones have been based on cheaper SoCs with low-power Cortex-A53 CPU cores, so the Armor 6 is notable for its performance potential. As it appears, Ulefone decided not to cut corners and used a relatively high-performance SoC with Cortex-A73 cores in order to ensure that owners of the handset can use all applications they need to with a comfortable level of performance.
If the thought is to take you away from the distractions of the internet, battery life should be an important factor. You don’t want to be out camping and worry about charging your phone. While the Unihertz Atom doesn’t do too badly in this department, it is also no battery champion.
Since then, Google and its X division have been reorganised: Google’s life sciences arm has become Verily, now overseen — along with Google and other Google spinouts, including Calico — by a new parent company Alphabet. Conrad remains head of Verily, but his dream of a Star Trek-grade medical device has not come to pass: Verily has yet to showcase any progress on building either the cancer-detection system or the Tricorder itself.
Beyond patching bugs, Windows 7 ESU also allows covered PCs to continue to run Office 365 ProPlus, the locally-installed applications – Outlook, Word, Excel and the like – that form the foundation of the software-as-a-service Office 365. Microsoft had previously mandated that support for Windows 7 running Office 365 ProPlus would expire when the former reached the end of support in January 2020. "This means that customers who purchase the Windows 7 ESU will be able to continue to run Office 365 ProPlus," Spataro said.
It’s also pretty cool to see your battery level dip below 30 percent and know that you’ve probably still got a few hours of battery life left.
Many of the dual SIM phones we’ve seen recently could either use two SIMs or one and a microSD card, but this design can accept all three simultaneously, which is good to see.
The tiny Osmo Pocket is subtle by way of design, but that doesn’t mean DJI has scrimped on features.
