Today’s productivity apps are ubiquitous in the office, but back in the 90s, you needed a PDA (personal digital assistant) for that stuff. Some darn fool thought the Game Boy was perfect for such a device.

The dynaEdge AR Smart Glasses are designed for enterprise customers and promise document viewing, live video calls, see-what-I-see, photo/video capture, alerts/messaging, workflow instruction and barcode scanning capabilities.

The trackpad is equally good. It’s pretty big, has a smooth, precise surface and a solid click to it, as well as plenty of options to customise the experience. But there’s also a ThinkPad stalwart in the form of the little red nipple TrackPoint between the G, H and B keys, and three mouse buttons between the spacebar and the trackpad. I found little use for them except when on a train where the end of the keyboard was pressed up into my gut by the zero legroom blocking the trackpad.

The Sony-made IMX230 Exmor sensor can snap single images in 6,144 x 3,456 resolution with very good color saturation and focus. It’s a three-year-old chip, but still very competitive and at the heart of many cameras and phones.

At this point, it’s really hard to recommend spending money on a Windows 10 computer with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. There just don’t seem to be enough benefits to justify the lousy performance. But I’m still hopeful that future Windows on ARM devices will smooth over the problem spots with software updates and faster processors: Qualcomm is already prepping a new Snapdragon chip designed specifically for Windows 10 computers.

Overall, given the cost of this phone, the features present are above and beyond what we’d expect, and make for a generally serviceable device that should have a decent lifespan if not flagrantly abused.
