I’m glad they’re trying new things too but it’s still way overpriced and setup to fail almost intentionally. Not even Microsoft is truly committed to Windows On ARM. Their Surface Go is further evidence of their lack of commitment to WoA. As Brad mentioned, you can get a comparably priced Surface device that has more features across the board including LTE support in some models and battery life that’s close enough to these devices. That’s just the more premium Surface devices, I’m sure there are OEM devices that also offer everything this has to offer but cheaper. Also there will be an LTE version of the Surface Go soon too. LTE and roughly 20% battery for $200 levels of performance is not going to get people to buy this device. It has to be priced competitively. The Xbox One had a slow start because it was priced $100 more than… Read more »
And the next iteration of ORION is already in the works, scheduled to launch in 2019 with the ability to dynamically adjust throughout the day to recalculate routes, considering factors like changing traffic conditions and the remaining deliveries and pick-up requests.
It’s connected, of course. There’s GSM, LTE, and CDMA connectivity, making it, in theory, compatible with all four US carriers, as long as Sprint and Verizon don’t pull shenanigans and block it. You can make calls using a speakerphone mode or a Bluetooth headset, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera supports video chat. The battery is 4220mAh.

Other changes are more welcome, like the inclusion of Skype and Microsoft Office, although the latter only works for five days before Microsoft shakes you down, a far cry from Apple’s free iWork suite. Asking users to cough up more for Office feels like quite a cheeky ask considering this is a laptop well in the four-figure territory. But aside from financial gripes, I also had to re-train muscle memory all over again which did make work feel like slow going.
It is a bit of a shame that the Surface Go doesn’t come with a keyboard in the box. This, alas, is usual practice for the Surface tablets. I understand it would drive the price up, but in this particular case, the device becomes much more useful with one. At this size, propping up the Surface Go on a desk in laptop mode without a keyboard isn’t the most useful layout. The Surface Go has its uses in tablet mode, and the default consumer OS (Windows 10 S) is built for poking and tapping. But not having the ability to type or use a touchpad to navigate Windows is not ideal.
Driving both trends, Sellars says, is the operational intelligence that image-based scanning and 2D bar codes provide. With laser-based scanning of one-dimensional bar codes, the only data collected is whether a code was properly read or not. If the trigger sensor went off but didn’t read, maybe a label is missing or the laser was looking for chocolate when presented with vanilla, but Sellars says the binary pass/fail feedback doesn’t lend itself to a quick and effective diagnosis.
So, yeah, performance will be an issue for some people, but they’re not this product’s target audience, so that’s okay. The product might fail — it’s a tough monopoly to break — but I for one am glad they’re trying something new.
At the Nov. 7 public hearing regarding the proposed ordinance, dubbed "Nathan’s Law," prior to council discussion and voting, Cathy Richeson said, “I stand here before you tonight to say no parent should have to go to a funeral home to try and identify their child, and then follow a hearse to bring them back home.”

There are two USB-C ports on the sides, for charging and—peripherals! Planet’s will have an HDMI adapter and a USB-A/Ethernet dongle for the device. The plugs together will cost $75.
A $200 Celeron laptop would not be able to deliver any of those things. You can’t even get a decent 10-inch HD tablet for that price.
