The tablet is gorgeous. On paper, 15 inches sounds like a giant monster of a tablet, but I found it perfect for holding an article or flicking around social media during short breaks, before locking it back into the keyboard with a satisfying click to return to work. The size also means the Surface Book is big enough to comfortably view two apps side-by-side should you need to.

Despite the fact that the Go’s compact chassis doesn’t leave much room for a beefy battery, the Surface Go lasted for a very respectable 9 hours and 56 minutes (9:56) on our video-playback rundown test. The Flex 6 11 ran for a little longer, at 11:10, but it and others were in the same ballpark. Nearly 10 hours isn’t super-long battery life (many ultraportables can hack that), but it is a lot of time away from the charger for a system that stresses mobility. And it’s strong enough for a detachable design, given that, in most cases, the only place the battery can live is behind the screen. (Notable exception: Microsoft’s own, and way pricier, Surface Book 2.)

Admittedly, Google has consigned many apps that won’t play by its rules to the bin recently. But Poptel needs to push out a new OS release and remove the offending app as part of that upgrade before some customers start to think the worst.

OUKITEL is a relatively prominent smartphone manufacturer that excels at engineering budget-friendly devices that are rugged and solidly made. Its latest gadget, the OUKITEL WP1, doesn’t necessarily break any molds on that front but does add one or two features that are noteworthy. For starters, this handset includes wireless fast charging. That’s uncommon in any low-spec Android handset and means this IP68-rated smartphone is a bit less of a hassle than prior OUKITEL devices when it comes to charging. At the same time, the build quality remains as high as any previous device from the company and the design will be familiar to anybody who’s considered buying one before. The battery capacity is also high, although that isn’t uncommon for devices from this company, and allows for hours upon hours of screen-on time. There are one or two minor quirks in the camera and materials used and this smartphone won’t work in every region. It is, nonetheless, worthy of consideration for anybody who needs a rugged device that’s solidly built.

Based on Spataro’s announcement and what Microsoft offers to customers through other plans – notably Windows Server’s Extended Security Updates – Windows 7 ESU likely will distribute security patches for vulnerabilities rated as "Critical" or "Important," the top two tiers in the firm’s four-step ranking system. The price may be steep: ESU for Windows Server 2008 runs 75% of the full license cost annually when the updates are deployed to on-premises servers.
