The exact date the ordinance will go into effect is not yet established, but will become effective “upon the earliest date allowed by the laws of the State of Ohio and the Charter of the Village of Granville.”
I can’t remember what they called it. I thought it was Helio or Helios but all that gets me is the old V-Tech Helio that was sort of a Handspring Visor knockoff with a 75Mhz CPU and more RAM/storage, but running VT-OS and also supposedly able to run some kind of Linux.
This rugged tablet is also designed to MIL-STD810G standards, is IP67 rated and is drop resistant up to 5 feet. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage. Panasonic claims that the Toughbook FZ-T1 is capable of delivering up to 12-hours of battery life while the Toughbook TZ-L1 is capable of up to 9 hours of usage time. The prices of these devices start at Rs. 60,000 without tax but will go up based on customisations.
If you needed proof that those days are well behind us, just look at the Cubot King Kong 3, a fully featured IP68 waterproof phone with a 5.5-inch display and an eight-core processor. And you get all this for less than £130 (or $160) – surely there is a catch?
Clues abound that Windows 7 will be tough to expunge. In July, Microsoft said that approximately 184 million commercial PCs still ran Windows 7 worldwide (although the number did not include systems in China, an omission Microsoft did not explain). But Microsoft’s number – a tally derived from PC telemetry – was just a fraction of the latest estimate calculated by Computerworld using data from analytics vendor Net Applications. Computerworld’s number for August: 378 million Windows 7 business PCs.
I didn’t spend enough time with the Gemini PDA to truly judge its performance, but it didn’t take too long to load LibreOffice Writer and begin composing documents or to open a terminal window and start running some simple commands. The processor might be a bit on the weak side for heavy duty computing, but it seems sufficient for basic tasks.
However, it has face recognition, panorama, a ‘face beauty’ mode and a vignette blur mode, and it can also apply a range of colour filters at the point of capture with the standard app.
As for that processor, the Pentium Gold 4415Y is a very low-wattage mobile CPU. (It has a 6-watt thermal design power rating.) It’s a seventh-generation chip with two cores but support for four processing threads via Hyper-Threading. A CPU that tops out at this level is more or less necessary given the target price point and limited space for thermals—the Surface Go’s design is fanless. All of this promises to add up to a modestly speedy handheld system—by no means a powerhouse, but a little machine well more capable than your typical extreme-budget 2-in-1, especially if you opt for the model with the "true" SSD versus the pokier eMMC flash memory. The Pentium Gold, versus the Atoms and Celerons common in budget chromebooks and like systems in this price range, should help.

I have no need for PTT communications, so it’s good the phone has an option for changing the button’s functionality. You can choose to launch any app with the PTT button. I picked the camera, but any app of your choice will work the same. The one downside to switching the button’s functionality is that it won’t launch any other app with the screen off (it does with Zello).
What’s truly odd about this behavior is that if you put the camera into video mode, it is entirely smooth. This strongly suggests that still photo mode has a technical issue that could probably be quickly resolved by a good software engineer.
The NovaGo gets pretty good standby time too. When the notebook first arrived on my doorstep, I charged the battery to 100 percent and then went five days before I had to plug it in, using the notebook for a few hours at a time and then closing the lid and leaving it unplugged overnight… for several nights in a row.
