Windows 10 users were given another biometric authentication method earlier this year: palm vein scanning.
Meanwhile, xda-developers forum member deadman96385 has ported TWRP 3.2.1 to run on the Gemini PDA, making it easy to backup, restore, or flash custom firmware on the device. And that’s just the start.
Enter Sanchez. After earning two bachelor’s degrees from MIT in electrical engineering and computer science and in mathematics, Sanchez was working in Tegmark’s lab. Rothberg and Sanchez met and founded Butterfly Network in 2011, and Sanchez then began the arduous task of integrating transducers directly onto chips. For help, the startup hired as chief technology officer Keith Fife ’98, SM ’99, who had helped design the DNA-sequencing chips for Ion Torrent.
The iQ is also the first universal ultrasound device that can image an entire body. Crystals in ultrasound devices resonate at one narrow frequency tailored to individual areas. A user will need one probe to capture, say, a patient’s veins and another to image the heart or kidney. “These pieces have narrow bandwidths tailored to each application,” Sanchez says. “But our device has a very broad bandwidth that can essentially become any other probe at any time.”
The Sony-made IMX230 Exmor sensor can snap single images in 6,144 x 3,456 resolution with very good color saturation and focus. It’s a three-year-old chip, but still very competitive and at the heart of many cameras and phones.
Where this sensor and lens combination shines is in macro photography, where we got very close to relatively small objects and still managed some impressive pictures.
The competitive pressures on the company are fairly heavy. But Insulet has a one-of-a-kind delivery mechanism which is significantly easier to use than competing products. This, combined with the recent pullback in stock price, as well as the increasing prevalence of diabetes worldwide, make Insulet a good value play.
Based on the size of the Village, and several state routes passing through its corporation limits, he questioned the practical application of the new law and its potential for realizing its intended effects.
There are some issues that the Surface Book 2 may never resolve, namely around how well Apple has pulled off integrating its various devices. I miss being able to answer phone calls to my iPhone and respond to text messages from my computer. It sounds like a small niggle, but I also use Ecamm’s Call Recorder to record important calls through FaceTime on my Mac, so I also lost that benefit. Microsoft unveiled a solution at the Build conference last month called “Your Phone” that could provide an answer, mirroring the smartphone onto the computer screen. The software will offer seamless integration with Android, but iOS’ closed-off approach to the world means it may never offer the same level of support to iPhone users.
Our benchmarks didn’t show anything that we weren’t expecting – because while the MediaTek MT6739 is a relatively new ARM design, it isn’t one that is going to break any speed records. The CPU isn’t wonderful itself, but the real weakness, as we’ve already mentioned, is the GPU, which scores very low, especially when 3D is required.
Wall Street questions the future of paging, cellular WASHINGTON-The cellular and paging industries experienced similar declines in revenue per subscriber and operating expenses this year. But despite jitters on Wall Street, the operating performance of most wireless companies remains strong, said Economic Management Consultant International Inc. in its report, “Financial Benchmarks in the Cellular and Paging Industries.” EMCI concluded the cellular industry experienced “steadily declining revenues per subscriber as new low-use subscribers were attracted to the service.” In addition, it said cellular will face increasing pressure on revenues per subscriber as personal communications services networks come online. However, falling operating expenses exceeded falling revenues, EMCI said. It cost only $8 for service per subscriber in 1996, compared with $11 per month in 1993. The paging industry experienced falling stocks, EMCI said, causing concerns about paging’s role in the future of wireless communications. … Read more
We benchmarked the Armor 3 using our standard selection of performance testing tools and found that it delivers numbers that are in line with other phones that use the same Helio P23 processor. It’s a tiny bit quicker than most, but only by a small amount.
