Battery life is extremely important for a portable device. Anybody who runs around with a charger everywhere they go will tell you that. When it came to the original Game Boy, that wouldn’t be an issue. Four AA batteries would get you up to thirty hours of playtime. That’s pretty good even compared to some of today’s devices. The Game Boy was able to pull off that amazing battery life because the hardware itself didn’t require much power. Without a backlight and with a screen only able to display four shades of gray, the system had pretty minimal needs.

Broadly speaking, most rugged smartphones have to make trade-offs to reach their design goals, such as using an inelegant chassis, mediocre hardware inside, or rather ordinary displays. While the general reasons behind such design decisions are more or less obvious (e.g., keep their BOM costs and heat soak in check), there are many people who prefer to have a rugged smartphone without making quite so many compromises. The Ulefone Armor 6 in turn is looking to carve out a niche for itself in that market by offering a rugged design with above-average hardware.

I did run some web-based benchmarks using the Edge web browser. The results weren’t great… and they also deviated pretty significantly from results that I’ve seen posted by other websites. So I’m not sure that web-based bechmarks such as Sunspider, Octane, Speedometer, or Kraken provide an accurate, consistent way to measure performance of Windows 10 on ARM devices.
