What we don’t normally expect is for a cheaper Chinese phone to come with the very latest release of Android, but the Cubot King Kong 3 has Android 8.1 Oreo (release dated for August 2018).

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Ulefone has today officially released its latest smartphone — Ulefone Armor 6, which comes with a rugged yet slim body. The phone is designed in such a way that it offers a comfortable grip. The rugged design of the phone ensures extreme protection when it comes to drops, slams, and crashes.

At this point, it’s really hard to recommend spending money on a Windows 10 computer with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. There just don’t seem to be enough benefits to justify the lousy performance. But I’m still hopeful that future Windows on ARM devices will smooth over the problem spots with software updates and faster processors: Qualcomm is already prepping a new Snapdragon chip designed specifically for Windows 10 computers.

Traditional ultrasound machines rely on vibrating crystals and other components to produce ultrasound images. These are generally large, stationary machines that cost anywhere from $15,000 to $100,000. But the startup’s device, called iQ, which resembles an electric razor that plugs into an iPhone lightning jack, essentially puts an entire ultrasound system on a chip, meaning it’s portable and sells for about $2,000.

The X1 Tablet comes with just two Thunderbolt 3 ports that double as USB-C ports. Having Thunderbolt 3 is a huge boon as the expansion capabilities are endless, including the holy grail of one cord to charge, connect a 4K monitor and every other peripheral you can think of. It’s a significant advantage over competitors that lack even USB-C.

The laptop also supports quick charging: Plug it in for 15 minutes and you should get a few hours of run time.

The GPD looks great as well, although, I’m not sure it can function as a phone with the lid down (small speaker and mic on the outside face of the case).

There are some issues that the Surface Book 2 may never resolve, namely around how well Apple has pulled off integrating its various devices. I miss being able to answer phone calls to my iPhone and respond to text messages from my computer. It sounds like a small niggle, but I also use Ecamm’s Call Recorder to record important calls through FaceTime on my Mac, so I also lost that benefit. Microsoft unveiled a solution at the Build conference last month called “Your Phone” that could provide an answer, mirroring the smartphone onto the computer screen. The software will offer seamless integration with Android, but iOS’ closed-off approach to the world means it may never offer the same level of support to iPhone users.
