Drivers interact with UPSNav using the screen on their handheld DIADs (Delivery Information Acquisition Device). The DIAD mounts to the driver’s dashboard for hands-free operation and displays a map showing drivers where to turn. It emits tones to notify them when to slow for a delivery or pickup stop and exactly where to stop once they have arrived at a destination. Since 1991, UPS has developed five generations of DIADs. The tablet is gorgeous. On paper, 15 inches sounds like a giant monster of a tablet, but I found it perfect for holding an article or flicking around social media during short breaks, before locking it back into the keyboard with a satisfying click to return to work. The size also means the Surface Book is big enough to comfortably view two apps side-by-side should you need to.

There are certain aspects of the OUKITEL WP1 that stray far from perfect. The camera, material used in the rear-panel, speakers, and fingerprint scanner could all stand to be improved. None of those is really a deal breaker either. The fingerprint scanner works but will be noticeably slower for those who have used the technology before. Meanwhile, cosmetic damage to the back plate isn’t likely as big a concern as real damage for those looking into purchasing this type of handset. The kinds of issues seen with the camera and speakers are at best easy to overcome and at worse a minor nuisance. In fact, the performance, features, and really almost everything about this handset is well-aligned with typical expectations for a device in the sub-$250 price range. On the other side of that coin, OUKITEL has really outdone itself to include wireless charging here and the WP1 is worth a look for anybody in the market for an affordable but rugged smartphone.

64-bit apps will not work. Yes, Windows 10 on ARM can run Windows desktop applications. But it can only run 32-bit (x86) desktop applications, not 64-bit (x64) applications. (The documentation doesn’t note this, but support for x64 apps is planned for a future release.)

My regular computer is a mid 2014 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, with a 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of solid state storage and an Intel Iris integrated graphics system. I bought it brand new soon after its launch, it’s served me well and I have no current plans to upgrade. For the purposes of this story, Microsoft supplied me with a 2017 Surface Book 2 with 15-inch screen, quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, 512GB of solid state storage and an Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics processor. It’s safe to say the Surface Book blows my old machine out of the water on specs, but so would a new MacBook Pro, so for this article I’m going to focus on the other aspects.
