The card slot has a rubber gasket protecting it from dust and water ingress, so it would be best if you decide which of those options you like, and then stick with it. As repeatedly opening the tray will eventually impact on the effectiveness of the seal.
The Asus NovaGo featured in this review is a model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’s the version currently available in the United States, although Asus may offer 4GB/64GB and 8GB/256GB configurations in some other markets.
“There is now acceptance that Android is the future of computing at the edge,” Wheeler says. “With that comes a shift from IT-management-oriented hardware decisions to more operations-oriented objectives. We see a lot of excitement and investment around solutions that are easier to learn and use.”
I drove that beast on my worst day so far. After a solid morning and early afternoon, I glanced at the Rabbit and sighed. It was taking me to that fresh hell that is 3400 Richmond Parkway, several hundred apartments set up in a mystifying series of concentric circles. The Rabbit’s GPS doesn’t work there, the apartment numbers are difficult to find, and the lady in the office informed me that I couldn’t leave packages with her. She did, however, hand me a map resembling the labyrinth of ancient Greece. I spent an hour wandering, ascending flights of stairs that took me, usually, to the incorrect apartment. By now deep in the hole, with no shot at completing my appointed rounds for the day, I set a forlorn course for my next stop at the nearby Auto Mall. That’s when I heard a thud-thud-thud from the area of my right front tire, which was so old and bald that it had begun to shed four- and five-inch strips of rubber, which were thumping against the wheel well.
Sure, it’s a niche device. But it’s great! Dual-window multitasking is a blast on the Gemini, and that command line is going to thrill coders and geeks. But … I can’t shake the idea that this is almost too good to be true. The Gemini is currently rolling out from Indiegogo, where it costs $399 for the next two weeks; it’ll be $599 at retail after that, and it arrives in March. We’ll see if that happens, and if the device works when it does.
This smartphone has been tested to MIL-STD-810G standard, and comes with an IP68 rating and 1.5 meter drop resistance. Finally, this Android device looks no different to many rugged phones available in the market.
Our customers are leveraging a variety of these tools to improve the management and operation of their device fleets. Some are using operational visibility tools that allow users to gain more insight into asset and operational performance by providing real-time insight into the status of mobile devices and peripherals. Some of these solutions not only offer mobile device management features, but also provide a portal to integrate existing MDM solutions.
And on Nov. 20, Microsoft announced that users can sign in to its online services via the Edge browser using FIDO2 devices.
There are some issues that the Surface Book 2 may never resolve, namely around how well Apple has pulled off integrating its various devices. I miss being able to answer phone calls to my iPhone and respond to text messages from my computer. It sounds like a small niggle, but I also use Ecamm’s Call Recorder to record important calls through FaceTime on my Mac, so I also lost that benefit. Microsoft unveiled a solution at the Build conference last month called “Your Phone” that could provide an answer, mirroring the smartphone onto the computer screen. The software will offer seamless integration with Android, but iOS’ closed-off approach to the world means it may never offer the same level of support to iPhone users.
The trackpad is equally good. It’s pretty big, has a smooth, precise surface and a solid click to it, as well as plenty of options to customise the experience. But there’s also a ThinkPad stalwart in the form of the little red nipple TrackPoint between the G, H and B keys, and three mouse buttons between the spacebar and the trackpad. I found little use for them except when on a train where the end of the keyboard was pressed up into my gut by the zero legroom blocking the trackpad.
DJI are also offering a range of accessories to work alongside the Osmo Pocket, including an underwater case that will allow users to dive with the camera to a depth of 60 meters.
