Again, nothing to write home about here. The phone’s sound is passable, but ordinary. Call audio seems fine. I could hear people well, and they could hear me (or so my friends said).

The display measures 10 inches on the diagonal, but the pixel density is very high. It bears a 1,800-by-1,200-pixel native resolution, which works out to a 3:2 aspect ratio and 217 pixels per inch. To my eyes, the panel is as sharp and as crisp as the excellent displays on other Surface products. It boasts responsive 10-point touch technology, as well. In some cases, the screen’s size required me to lean in to the device, especially to see smaller fonts without straining, when it was set up in laptop mode on a desk. That’s not unique to the Surface Go, however, as a 10-inch screen is a 10-inch screen. Resolution can make a difference in text size, but you can also adjust Windows’ font scaling as needed.

One of those factors might be that the screen resolution of the Kong 3 is only 1,440 x 720, and not the higher resolutions that we’ve seen with 5.99-inch phablets. That’s less than half the number of pixels of a phone with a 2,160 x 1,080 resolution display, and that makes a huge difference to how agile the phone feels.

The support on the Kong 3 is better than many Chinese phones, so it might be worth researching those used by your provider before making a purchase.

The differentiation starts in the design. Like Xiaomi’s Black Shark unique back cover touch design, Blackview BV5500’s best-selling points are of course its toughness and the unique design. It has a thinner ergonomic frame to make its grip more comfortable and easier to hold, while slimming it down compared to similar devices. For hardware, the BV5500 packs a 5.5-inch screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. There is a Corning Gorilla 3 protection on top, giving it some toughness. Its overall design is very small, and there is no shortage of fashion. In this way, it will also be loved by young men and women, not just outdoor workers. The aluminium frame is curved at the edges, making the device feel great to hold.

As if to underline that point, the other major weakness of this design is the screen. It isn’t a high resolution, doesn’t have a strong color palette, and is difficult to read in bright light.

That said, I understand why the first crop of Windows 10 on ARM devices cost as much as they do. The Snapdragon 835 processor is a premium component designed for high-end smartphones. 4G LTE support is usually only offered on premium notebooks. Fingerprint sensors aren’t exactly standard on entry-level laptops either. Nor are full HD touchscreen displays (even if they should be).

“You should think about warehouse mobile devices the same as a desktop in an office,” he said. “They are important to your business, but sometimes different teams manage these devices. You have to move up in the organization’s food chain and make sure you have a budget and involve everyone. It takes some time and effort to achieve that.”

I would hang my head in slight disappointment, but acceptance, if Linux was the only OS that could bridge all these functions.
