Microsoft is selling two different models of the Surface Go, priced at $399 and $549. Inside the $399 model, a "Kaby Lake" Intel Pentium Gold 4415Y processor runs the show, along with the CPU-integrated Intel HD Graphics 615, 4GB of main system memory, and 64GB of eMMC flash memory for storage. Our review unit is the more expensive version, which offers the same processor, but accompanied by 8GB of memory and a 128GB SSD.

The startup has developed a low-cost, handheld scanner, based in part on work done by co-founder Nevada Sanchez ’10, SM ’11, that generates clinical-quality ultrasounds on a smartphone. Ultrasounds are uploaded to the cloud, where any expert with permission can give second opinions or help analyze images.

It can also operate both SIMs on LTE at the same time, although we’re unsure if it can channel bond the bandwidth in this mode.

Most “flagship” phones cost more, and are ONLY phones, so this seems like a decent deal to get Linux computer plus Android tablet/phone for the asking price.

In short: the Palm Phone is better, mostly because of design and the much better screen. I would gladly pay the extra $90 (plus $10 extra monthly fee) for it if I wanted a secondary phone and was with Verizon.  Those that don’t fit the requirements can go with the next best thing in tiny smartphones: the Unihertz Atom.

The company has been selling its ‘breath checkers’ and ‘alcohol checkers’ since 1999. They have sold more than 2.5 million units. 

i used to have the old Sony Picturebook. These remind me of the same. The units are very cool, but head/neck strain results when trying to use this as a mini-laptop, or otherwise long periods of time.

Another layer that further complicates the issue is device management. It is possible the corporate IT department already uses a device management solution, so warehouse and production stakeholders don’t have to reinvent the wheel, Nielsen said.

Clues abound that Windows 7 will be tough to expunge. In July, Microsoft said that approximately 184 million commercial PCs still ran Windows 7 worldwide (although the number did not include systems in China, an omission Microsoft did not explain). But Microsoft’s number – a tally derived from PC telemetry – was just a fraction of the latest estimate calculated by Computerworld using data from analytics vendor Net Applications. Computerworld’s number for August: 378 million Windows 7 business PCs.
