What you might be doing more frequently is taking photos, and on paper, the three different cameras don’t seem at all bad.

“As you look at needs of consumers and warehouses, many are similar,” Boatner says. “Better speed, better and richer and more intuitive interfaces, IP-68 and ruggedness. A lot of those goals are common.”

There are certain aspects of the OUKITEL WP1 that stray far from perfect. The camera, material used in the rear-panel, speakers, and fingerprint scanner could all stand to be improved. None of those is really a deal breaker either. The fingerprint scanner works but will be noticeably slower for those who have used the technology before. Meanwhile, cosmetic damage to the back plate isn’t likely as big a concern as real damage for those looking into purchasing this type of handset. The kinds of issues seen with the camera and speakers are at best easy to overcome and at worse a minor nuisance. In fact, the performance, features, and really almost everything about this handset is well-aligned with typical expectations for a device in the sub-$250 price range. On the other side of that coin, OUKITEL has really outdone itself to include wireless charging here and the WP1 is worth a look for anybody in the market for an affordable but rugged smartphone.

The phone runs stock Debian pretty much, from what I have been able to gather. And Plasma is definitely in the Debian ARM repository.

For large, complex DCs with heavy automation, the software to drive processes, workflows and tasks in that environment is overkill for many SMBs. Now some vendors provide solutions for only that sector, Stubbs says, and even the larger software players have developed more scalable versions.

The front-facing speakers are perhaps a weak point for using the X1 Tablet as a media machine, because although they are relatively clear and distortion-free, they’re also not very loud and lack any sort of bass. They’ll be fine if you’re hand-holding the machine to watch a TV show, but watching something while cooking and hearing what’s going on over an extractor fan is a no-go.

Spend a few minutes with Windows 10 S and you may be surprised at just how much it feels like, well… Windows.
