Tetris may not have been made for the Game Boy, but the handheld certainly made it a phenomenon. Though the classic puzzle game had been available on PCs, it wasn’t until Nintendo released the Game Boy version that it really took off. They sold over 35 million copies of Tetris and people got hooked on its simple yet addictive gameplay.

Microsoft already tried that, it’s called Windows RT. It failed pretty horribly. There is no great rush by developers to code for the Windows app store. You could just as easily slim Windows down by removing the store apps half of Windows.

Manufacturers have been making our phones bigger and faster for years. Now a new breed of smartphones is trying to satisfy the needs of minimalists, aimed avoiding virtual distractions and keeping people in touch with reality.

“As you look at needs of consumers and warehouses, many are similar,” Boatner says. “Better speed, better and richer and more intuitive interfaces, IP-68 and ruggedness. A lot of those goals are common.”

Windows Hello is designed for both enterprises and consumers, and is gaining traction on both fronts. During Microsoft’s Ignite 2017 conference, the company announced more than 37 million people were already using Windows Hello and more than 200 companies had deployed Windows Hello for Business. At the time, the largest enterprise deployment outside of Microsoft’s IT team comprised more than 25,000 users, according to the company.

We benchmarked the Armor 3 using our standard selection of performance testing tools and found that it delivers numbers that are in line with other phones that use the same Helio P23 processor. It’s a tiny bit quicker than most, but only by a small amount.

Unicode support for platforms that don’t natively have it could be done quick and dirty using a simple substitution table to extended ASCII, or the hard way by having a full Unicode font and text rendering engine.
