The front-facing speakers are perhaps a weak point for using the X1 Tablet as a media machine, because although they are relatively clear and distortion-free, they’re also not very loud and lack any sort of bass. They’ll be fine if you’re hand-holding the machine to watch a TV show, but watching something while cooking and hearing what’s going on over an extractor fan is a no-go.

Wow I didn’t realize the Surface Laptop was that light by comparison. Anyways, this laptop’s shortcomings don’t surprise me. It’s priced way too high for what amounts to entry level $200 performance. You should compare this to those cheap $150-200 Celeron laptops you can get at best buy. At the $200 price point I’d probably get an ARM laptop or tablet. Still looking for an upgrade to my Surface RT.

The Ulefone X2 is the company’s entry-level rugged smartphone, and it supports 3G connectivity. It is easy to notice that the Armor X2 is a rugged smartphone, its design reveals that. It’s unfortunately a relatively big price jump to get this SSD-equipped model, but RAM is pricey these days and SSD is simply not inexpensive technology. The storage capacity takes a nice bump, though, so you can also store more files and your system will load faster. A 128GB drive isn’t a ton of storage, but for the types of tasks the Surface Go is built for, it’s a fitting capacity. On the whole, I think the $399 price point of the Surface Go is one of the stronger selling points, so there’s less head-turning value in hearing "$550 Surface." But the speedier storage and more-standard amount of memory are undeniably nice to have if you’ll also lean on this machine as a frequent work companion.

Aside from lacking bass punch and sounding slightly tinnier, the OUKITEL WP1 is on par with other handsets in the budget and mid-range categories. That’s not to say the sound is great. Listening to music for those who enjoy a balanced tone or bass will want to invest in some decent headphones or a Bluetooth speaker to go with this smartphone. The sound is plenty loud enough for alarms, notifications, and ringtones but simply isn’t going to be anything near amazing for music and other bass-rich media.

Bottom Line: The well-built Surface Go is the least expensive route into Microsoft’s superb Surface tablet line, and the most portable option. Just know that frequent travelers will like it best, and the core processing power is on the light side.
